Saratchandra Football:

NEROCA Sangakpham and the MPSC have completed the semi finals line-up of the 4th L Saratchandra Memorial Invitation Football Tournament being played at Kongkhampat ground, Nambol.

In the last match of group B, MBSU Wahengbam Leikai pipped TRAU Kwakeithel 5-3 .

The second match between MPSC and NEROCA ended in 1-1 draw.

Th Rohen of MPSC equalised NEROCA's first half goal by H Amarjit to earn the police side a crucial point.

At the end of the match, NEROCA emerged winners of group C on better goal difference while the MPSC managed to get through to the semi-finals round by virtue of being the second best team of all the groups.

MPSC will take on TRUGPU Nambol in the first semi-final on April 23 while NEROCA face off YWC Thambalkhong in the second semi-final on the same day.

Tekcham, Lamyanba move to semis of Governor's Cup Polo:

Tekcham Polo Club-A and Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club have stormed into semi-finals of the 19th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament.

At Imphal pologround today, Tekcham Polo Club-A whipped KRYPSA 7-3.For the winners, M Bono pumped in six goals before M Manihar sealed the match with a goal in the 4th chukker.

In the second quarter-final match, Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club routed Imphal Riding Club at a huge margin of 11-1.Ravi gave Imphal Riding Club a lead in the second chukker but Lamyanba got the equaliser in the next minute before scoring three more in the same chukker.

By the end of the third chukker, Lamyanba was already leading 9-1.M Jawan completed demolition of their rivals by scoring his third goal in the 4th chukker.

P Ojit contributed 5 goals for the Lamyanba side.

Four Manipuris for Asian Judo Championship:

The Indian judo team will leave from Delhi tomorrow for the Asian judo championship which is going to held at Judo city in South Korea from 24 to 27 April 2008.

A total of 12 players will be participating from India led by Judo Federation of India general secretary Mukesh Kumar. Out of the 12 players six are boys and rest girls including four from Manipur Judo Association. Three of them are at present serving in the CRPF namely Kh Tombi (48 kg), A Anita (52 kg), L Nirupama (57 kg) and one is staying at SAI, Patiala as a trainee namely Ch Jina (70 kg).

According to the results of the Asian judo championship the Judo Federation of India will select players for the Olympics to be held at Beijing.

Application for central assistance:

Applications in prescribed format are invited from registered voluntary organisations desirous of seeking Central financial assistance under the scheme of national programme for youth and adolescents development of the ministry of youth affairs and sports, government of India for the year 2008-2009.

Application forms duly filled in alongwith the project proposal should reach the directorate of youth affairs and sports, Khuman Lampak, on or before 30 June, 2008.
