Laishram Monika Fetches Weightlifting Olympic Berth : New Delhi, Apr 30: With one silver and two bronze to their kitty in the ongoing Asian weightlifting championship in Kanazawa in Japan, Indian women have booked one berth for Beijing Olympics. Laishram Monika Devi has fetched three medals for India in the women’s 69kg event in the final Olympic qualifying event which concludes on Thursday. Contractors decide to stop work: Lamka, Feb 5: The Khuga Multipurpose Project Contractors and Sub Contractors Association said on Tuesday that it has lost confidence, trust and faith in the state government as it had failed to carry out the commitments made to them. The association said it is constrained to impose a total and indefinite ban on the ongoing works on all components of the Khuga dam from the 5th of this month. The association has decided to impose a complete ban on the ongoing works along the Tiddim road diversion that are being undertaken with NEC funding if the demands they are making are not fulfilled. It said they had agreed with the government on January 12 at the Dam IB for the release of Rs. 1 crore without fail by January 20 and for the creation of special Tiddim road diversion funds.
