Voices against Black Laws raised: Imphal, Dec 12: Shouting the slogans of ‘Liberate Manipuri women’, ‘Do not suppress Manipuri women’, ‘Stop State sponsored terrorism’, ‘Repeal AFSPA’, ‘Anti-people policy and governance, down, down’, etc, the 68th Nupi Lan Ningshing Thouram was held along with a rally at Moirang on Wednesday. Hundreds of slogan shouting women participated in the rally which was taken out from Mukta High School to the venue of the observance function organised at Chingei ground, Moirang under the aegis of Nupi Lan Observation Committee formed jointly by Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur (PLMPAM); Meira Paibi Welfare Association, Kangleipak (MEPWAK) and All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association (AMOWOVA). Commemoration on Tuesday: Imphal, Dec 10: Like in previous years, Nupi Lan Ningshing Thouram (Memorial Observance) will be organised by different women’s organisations in different parts of the state on Tuesday in commemoration of the 1939 women’s agitation against artificial scarcity of rice and social injustice. The Nupi Lan Observation Committee will be organising its 68th Nupi Lan Ningshing Thouram along with taking out a mass public rally from Chingei ground of Moirang. To pay homage to the brave ‘Imas’ who sacrificed their lives for the cause of social justice, torches would be lit at night to mark the occasion. All Manipur Muslim Women Cultural Organisation would also be observing Nupi Lan at the ground of A Gani English High School at Minuthong Hatta.
