KSO shuts Govt. offices, warns more agitation: Lamka, Apr 26: Most of the Government offices here ceased the day's chores at 11am today following the KSO, Churachandpur block's diktat to do so in a bid to mark their protest against the Government decision to drop the Rs 40 crore mini-secretariat project. The KSO protest comes at a time when many intellectuals here were taken aback by the news report on the decision to drop the multi-crore project only in Churachandpur district. At a press conference later in the day, KSO leaders accused the Government of neglecting the district and questioned on what basis the project had to be dropped. They also claimed that the project site is not the ground for their agitation today but the decision thereof to drop the project. State Govt. yet to act: Lamka, Dec 13: Despite the disquieting famine situation that is prevailing in Churachandpur, the SPF government has so far failed to initiate any steps to tackle the situation nor does it alert the Centre Government in this regard. The lackadaisical attitude of the state government was revealed by none other than the Outer Manipur MP Mani Charenamei. “That is what I have been told by the concern Minister (Union),” the Parliamentary member told this correspondent when inquired if the report on the half-hearted attitude of the State Government is genuine. NREGS at Churachandpur

Central Observer lauds achievement: Lamka, Dec 9: In less than a month after Churachandpur witnessed the actual implementation of NREGS, its achievement has surpassed the common expectations and impressively convinced the Central Observer when he visited some of the work sites on Saturday. Visiting some of the work sites, the Central Observer, NK Sinha, Assistant Commissioner, NREGS, Ministry of Rural Development, Govt of India, gave an impressive remark on the overwhelming response NREGS has received from its 30,000 odd Job Card holders in Churachandpur. “I am very happy with the way people of Churachandpur have responded to the scheme in the last 15 to 20 days. It is tremendous. Certainly the programme is going to take off in this area,” he said. CCpur starts reaping NREGS fruits: Lamka, Dec 6: In less than a month after Churachandpur actually witnessed the implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), its facet has been successfully transformed to the extent that has never been seen or anticipated earlier. As the Deputy Commissioner has issued strict instructions to immediately dolled out job cards to the concerned BDOs and initiate work following media reports about the sluggish pace of progress, job cards has now reached to a good proportion of the populace and its progress have now been noticeable even in the remotest region of the district.
