KSO shuts Govt. offices, warns more agitation: Lamka, Apr 26: Most of the Government offices here ceased the day's chores at 11am today following the KSO, Churachandpur block's diktat to do so in a bid to mark their protest against the Government decision to drop the Rs 40 crore mini-secretariat project. The KSO protest comes at a time when many intellectuals here were taken aback by the news report on the decision to drop the multi-crore project only in Churachandpur district. At a press conference later in the day, KSO leaders accused the Government of neglecting the district and questioned on what basis the project had to be dropped. They also claimed that the project site is not the ground for their agitation today but the decision thereof to drop the project. UBI strike off: The ceasework strike launched by the employees of all branches of the United Bank of India since January 8 following a heavy monetary demand from one militant outfit has been called off with immediate effect. Informing this on Friday, the co-convenor of the United Forum of Bank Unions said that the ceasework programme earlier scheduled to be held on January 14 has also been called off. The decision to withdraw the cease work stir was taken after the outfit concerned conveyed that they have withdrawn the monetary demand, said the statement and added that branches of the United Bank of India will start normal transactions from Saturday. The United Forum of Bank Unions, on behalf of all the working employees of the Bank, also expressed its regret to the customers and general public for the closure of UBI branches. KSO wants UGs to be flushed out: The KSO Chandel district has urged the security forces to clear landmines and to flush out UG elements from Khengjoi area of Chandel district so that the people of the area can live and work without any fear psychosis. The student body also appealed to both the security forces and the UG groups to avoid collateral damages and to protect the lives of civilians while in the battlefield. The KSO, while appealing to all NGOs in the state to refrain from any misleading rumour or propaganda, warned all concerned not to use local people for the benefits of their vested interests. It alleged that Haopu Haokip, Tonglet Khongsai and Ngamkhojang alias Simthar were forced to appear before media to speak falsehoods in favour of UGs and civil societies in order to gain public support against the operations of security forces.
