Women killed in New Samtal blast: In a tragic incident, three women were killed when a bomb exploded while they were working under the NREGS programme at New Samtal area in Chandel district at about 12 noon on Monday. The incident took place while the women were clearing the road. The three victims have been identified as Lhingkhonem (45), Hoikim Guite (45) and Paumeng Haokip (43). Many others were injured in the bomb blast. RPF penalises mithamana sellers: The proscribed outfit RPF has tonsured two women as punishment for defying the ban on selling Mithamana, even as another woman Mithamana seller surrendered to the outfit. The two women are identified as Nongmeikapam Lalita (25) d/o late Indrajit and Irengbam Ongbi Pramo (35) w/o Muhindro while the other who surrendered as Irengbam Ongbi Lily (35) w/o Ningthemjao. All three of them are residents of Irengbam Makha Leikai and operate Pan Dukan at Irengbam Kangjeibung Parking. Before meting out the punishment, they were produced before mediapersons somewhere in Churachandpur district on Sunday.
