Tragic Death of International Cyclist

CM condoles: Imphal, Dec 27: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has joined the people of the state in condoling the demise of international cyclist Huidrom Tombisana who succumbed to injuries at a Tamil Nadu Hospital on December 25. The CM in his condolence message described Tombisana as one of the best women cyclists and 'her demise is an irreparable loss to the entire sporting community of the state and the country’. Ibobi also shared the grief of the bereaved family and conveyed prayer for peaceful rest of her soul in the heavenly abode. Tombisana met with a fatal accident at Erode on December 22 while practising for the 13th National Road Race Cycling Championship which began at the southern state on Thursday. Her body was brought to Imphal Airport on Wednesday where sportspersons of the state in large numbers received tearfully. Christmas in Manipur

Peace, festivity mark birth of Lord Jesus: Imphal, Dec 25: Christmas is being celebrated in Manipur on Tuesday with festive gaiety. The houses were decorated with colourful stars and singing of Christmas carols can be heard in every streets. Special Christmas games, sports, cultural programmes were organised in every parts of the state. Oust Ibobi Campaign

Rebels to camp in New Delhi again: Imphal, Dec 14: Refusing to retreat from their efforts to oust O Ibobi Singh from chief ministership and to put further pressure on the Congress high command at the Centre, the rebel Congress MLAs who were camping in Imphal since a few days back will again shift to the national capital, New Delhi, on Saturday. Meanwhile, chief minister O Ibobi Singh who left the state capital on Friday on an official tour outside the state handed over the charge of chief ministerial duties to the senior most minister, Th Debendra. The chief minister has already reached Guwahati along with his wife Landhoni on Friday. Advani assures support to Manipur all party team: Imphal, Dec 10: Delegates of the state all political party forum currently in New Delhi to campaign for delinking Manipur from the delimitation process met with the Opposition leader of the Lok Sabha, LK Advani on Monday seeking his support for their demand seeking a halt to the delimitation process in the state. Delimitation of Constituencies Issue

Central CPI leaders extend support to Manipur demand: Imphal, Dec 9: Central leaders of the CPI have assured support to the campaign for delinking of Manipur from the delimitation process in a meeting with the all parties` delegation from the state on Sunday at New Delhi. The delegation of all political parties are campaigning for the exemption of Manipur along with other states of the northeast like Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, which have cases pending on the matter of the 2001 census report, from the purview of the delimitation commission. RJD clarification on support to ‘rebels’

Party disowns Hellaluddin Khan statement: Imphal, Dec 6: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Manipur, has disowned the statement issued by one of its MLAs, expressing support to the dissidents in the Congress in their ongoing campaign to oust chief minister O Ibobi Singh. A press release issued by S Natum Singh, general secretary RJD, Manipur, termed these statements as very unfortunate, and clarified that they do not reflect the stance of the party. The RJD has been supporting the SPF government in the state since the beginning and continues to do so. It does not support any particular faction within the CLP, the press note clarified. It also cautioned the MLAs concerned and others within the party, not to issue such statements in the future without the consent of the party. Any flouting of party disciplie will be taken seriously, the statement warned.
