KLASA, TRUGPU in Loktak trophy final: Moirang, Feb 5: KLASA and TRUGPU entered the final of the ongoing 1st Loktak trophy 2008 organised by AMOFA Moirang at Moirang Multipurpose ground here on Tuesday. In the semifinal matches on Tuesday, KLASA laboured to a hard-fought 6-5 win against MBSU, Wahengbam via tie-breakers after normal time ended with both sides scoring two goals each while TRUGPU recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over KRYPSA, Naoremthong. Naoton opened the TRUGPU score with a goal in the sixth minute followed by Boynao extending the lead in the 28th. Even though KRYPSA's James pulled one back with a 37th minute strike, Naoton regained the lead for the Nambol side in the 42nd minute. Earlier, in the KLASA versus MBSU clash, Gandhi found the MBSU opener in the 15th minute which was neutralised by Kenedy four minutes later only to see Inaocha restore the MBSU lead in the 44th. AMOFA stun Manipur Police: Imphal, Dec 23: AMOFA, Moirang stunned Manipur Police by a solitary goal even as NEROCA (Laipham Khunou), SSU (Singjamei) and YWC (Thambalkhong) defeated their respective opponents, while KFC, Kakching and PYC, Phoudel split points after a 2-2 draw in the 2nd Manipur State League football competition matches played on Sunday. While 51st CC Meet runners-up AMOFA pulled off a major upset defeating formidable MPSC on a 28th minute goal scored by S Stephen at Moirang, recently crowned CC Meet champions NISA, Thangmeiband suffered 0-2 defeat at home turf (Sekmai) to NEROCA with Ksh Malemnganba (15th) and Amarjit (70th) netting the Laipham Khunou side's goals. Third time lucky NISA lift maiden CC Meet Trophy Imphal, Dec 9: It proved third time lucky for North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA) as they downed a spirited All Moirang Football Association (AMOFA) 2-0 in the final of the 51st CC Meet at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on Sunday to lift the coveted CC Meet 2007 trophy. The team from Thangmeiband had earlier reached the final of the CC Meet tournament in 1969 and then again in 1994. NISA were however beaten to the coveted trophy in the earlier final appearances. For the Moirang side, this was their first entry to the final of the tournament. Though the match did not really rise to any great heights, thanks in no small part to the extremely uneven playing ground, that did not deter the record turn out, estimated to be about 15,000 plus. Amid the cheers and of course jeers from fans and supporters of the two sides, the match kicked off a 1.15 pm.
