Loktak Lake Dying
Needs urgent attention, say visiting ambassadors: Imphal: Loktak Lake is the only fresh water lake surviving in India, but the present condition of the lake is quite unhealthy. The state government and the people of Manipur should take up measures to preserve and develop it. This was the opinion of three ambassadors from the countries of Finland, Sweden and Denmark who are on a visit to the state. Lars-Olof Lindgren, the ambassador of Sweden, Asko Numminen, the ambassador of Finland and Ole Lonsmann Poulsen, the ambassador of Denmark expressed that they had come on a visit of India since a few months back but their real objective was to visit the north eastern part of the country. Therefore, they approached the Indian embassy for a visit to the north eastern areas and had so far visited Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
