7th Women’s Winners Cup

Manipur Police ahead Imphal, Dec. 18: Manipur Police Sports Club beat Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club 3-0 while Kangchup Road Youth Physical and Sports Association held Eastern Sporting Union to a 2-2 draw in the 7th Women’s Winners Cup for the BM Singh trophy here on Tuesday. In the opening match at Khuman Lampak main stadium on Tuesday, the policewomen had an easy game, with little resistance from the Naharol girls. Th. Tababi Devi gave a right flank pass to O. Bembem Devi, who converted it into a goal in the 31st minute, enabling the Police team to take the lead in the first half. In the second half, Th. Tababi Devi scored again in the 51st minute and 10 minutes later, Sh. Rani Devi gave the Police team its third goal. In another match, Kangchup Road Youth Physical and Sporting Association played out a 2-2 draw with Eastern Sporting Union. Kangchup drew first blood in the 17th minute as Th. Manchester United Premier Cup Qualifiers

Manipur teams lose: Chandigarh, Dec 13: Brilliant display by Rajib Ghorui helped East Bengal Football Club hand out a 5-0 drubbing to Eastern Sporting Union of Manipur in the Manchester United (MU) Premier Cup North-East Zone Qualifying Football India Finals Tournament here on Thursday. East Bengal FC striker Rajib struck four goals. He booted home the first two goals in the ninth and 16th minutes. Ajay Roy found the target in the 25th minute to make it 3-0. Rajib again sprung into action to score in the 30th and 32nd minute. In another match, St Stephen’s School Football Academy, Sector 45 (Chandigarh) got the better of Youth Organisation Sports Club of Manipur 2-0.
