Manipur Police ahead
Imphal, Dec. 18: Manipur Police Sports Club beat Naharol Yaipha Thourang Club 3-0 while Kangchup Road Youth Physical and Sports Association held Eastern Sporting Union to a 2-2 draw in the 7th Women’s Winners Cup for the BM Singh trophy here on Tuesday.
In the opening match at Khuman Lampak main stadium on Tuesday, the policewomen had an easy game, with little resistance from the Naharol girls.
Th. Tababi Devi gave a right flank pass to O. Bembem Devi, who converted it into a goal in the 31st minute, enabling the Police team to take the lead in the first half.
In the second half, Th. Tababi Devi scored again in the 51st minute and 10 minutes later, Sh. Rani Devi gave the Police team its third goal.
In another match, Kangchup Road Youth Physical and Sporting Association played out a 2-2 draw with Eastern Sporting Union. Kangchup drew first blood in the 17th minute as Th. Keinakumari scored the first goal.
A minute later, L. Naobi Devi of Eastern scored the equaliser.
Eastern Sporting Union’s N. Malemnganbi directed a pass to I. Prameshowri in the goalmouth who shot to perfection to take the score to 2-1. L. Asharani made amends for the earlier penalty misses and scored the second goal for her team.
