Kuki Inpi, UNC come together:

Imphal, Dec 21: Terming it as a historic moment, the Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM) and the United Naga Council (UNC) have finally come together and pledged to "work hand in hand" for peaceful co-existence and communal harmony amongst all the communities. Both the important tribal social organisations have also agreed to "defend and develop the common tribal interest."

The KIM and UNC in a programme called "Get-Together " on December 15 took a decision to work for the common cause.

Kuki Inpi, Manipur (KIM) general secretary Thangkhosei Haokip and UNC caretaker Samson Remmei informed this development to Newmai News Network on Friday evening while appealing to all the civil society organisations not to call any bandh, strike or blockade during the Christmas and New Year season.

The two organisations also appealed to all the underground groups operating in Manipur not to carry out violent activities during this festive season.

"KIM and UNC send out the joyous greetings and wish all the people a merry Christmas and a happy New Year," stated the message of the two bodies while adding, "May this Christmas and New Year bring eternal peace, communal harmony and understanding amongst all the communities."

Inter-State buses suspend service: Imphal, May 4: Following the All Manipur Inter-State Bus Services Association (AMISBSA)'s decision to suspend buses services indefinitely due to 'heavy' monetary demands from various elements, all buses plying along the National Highways have suspended service from Sunday. The association has been compelled to take the decision owing to various elements, undergrounds and overgrounds demanding heavy amount of money from the transporters, a spokesman of the association told media persons on Sunday evening. Murder in Mumbai!

Manipuri girl found dead Imphal/Mumbai, July 15 : A 27-year-old Manipuri girl working as a customer relationship manager in a Mumbai five star hotel was found dead in her hostel at Marol in Andheri shortly after midnight on Friday. Ch. Alena’s body was found hanging by a dupatta from the balcony of the hostel she shared with three other girls, authorities at Hotel Leela Kempinski said. But injury marks in her private parts have raised suspicions that she may have been sexually assaulted before being strangulated.
