Id-ul-Zuha Celebrations

Guv extends greetings:

Imphal, Dec 20: Greeting the people of Manipur, particularly the Muslim community on the occasion of Idul Zuha, Governor Dr SS Sidhu has wished that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit.

In his message, Dr Sidhu said that the message of Idul Zuha is peaceful coexistence setting aside differences if caste, creed or religion.

Joining the people of Manipur in celebrating Idul Zuha, Chief Minister prayed that this festival may bring love, peace, unity and prosperity in Manipur.

In his Idul Zuha greetings, Speaker Dr S Budhichandra wished that this festival may increase love, sacrifice, harmony and unity among the people of the State.

Extending best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Idul Zuha, MPCC president Gaikhangam prayed that this festival may foster clo-ser relationship among various communities.

In his Idul Zuha message, MP Dr T Meinya wished that the festival may herald pros-perity by way of resolving conflict situation facing the State.

On the occasion, IG AR (South) Maj Gen BK Chengapa and all ranks of AR conveyed their wish that this year’s Idul Zuha may bring peace, prosperity and tranquillity in the days to come.

Others who have extended their wishes on the occasion of Idul Zuha MLA Th Lokeshwar, NCP Manipur Pradesh, Lok Janshakti Party Manipur State, United Muslims Council Manipur and MPP Youth Front.

Inter-State buses suspend service: Imphal, May 4: Following the All Manipur Inter-State Bus Services Association (AMISBSA)'s decision to suspend buses services indefinitely due to 'heavy' monetary demands from various elements, all buses plying along the National Highways have suspended service from Sunday. The association has been compelled to take the decision owing to various elements, undergrounds and overgrounds demanding heavy amount of money from the transporters, a spokesman of the association told media persons on Sunday evening. The spokesman said transporters, mainly passenger buses, are facing many problems due to the heavy imposition of monetary demands and 'taxes' by different underground groups operating in both hills and valley districts. Murder in Mumbai!

Manipuri girl found dead Imphal/Mumbai, July 15 : A 27-year-old Manipuri girl working as a customer relationship manager in a Mumbai five star hotel was found dead in her hostel at Marol in Andheri shortly after midnight on Friday. Ch. Alena’s body was found hanging by a dupatta from the balcony of the hostel she shared with three other girls, authorities at Hotel Leela Kempinski said. But injury marks in her private parts have raised suspicions that she may have been sexually assaulted before being strangulated. Though family members performed the last rites at Kongpal Kshetri Leikai of Imphal East this afternoon, they demanded a thorough probe by the Mumbai police into the circumstances leading to her death.
