International Tent Pegging Meet: Ten riders have been selected (nominally) to participate in the International Tent Pegging Championship to be held at the Imphal Pologround from Janaury 10 to 14. The shortlisted players are: HC Jaswinder Singh (BSF); SI Jaswinder Singh, Insp Jagdish Singh, ASI Youngbir Singh, SI Talwinder Singh (Punjab Police); HC Suresh Kumar, HC Sashidharan (ITBP); Maj Vivek Rehni, Sub Omprakash (ASC-N); CHM Jitender Singh (ASC-Bangalore). Police equestrian meet from Friday: The 26th All India Police Equestrian Meet 2008, organised by Manipur Police, will be held at Pologround, Imphal from Friday. Manipuri student dies in Delhi: A Manipuri student doing his degree course in Delhi University identified as Mesak Sinate (22) s/o Damhau Sinate of Reng-kai, Churachandpur died after falling down from the second floor of a building at Lajpat Nagar, Delhi in the evening of December 25. Five militants nabbed: Five militants, belonging to three separate organizations, were nabbed during the past 24 hours in three different incidents in Manipur. Police said one militant was apprehended by Manipur Police and 39 Assam Rifles (AR) troops and Rs 70,000 was recovered from his possession. Imphal West commandos nabbed three people, suspected to be Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) cadres. AMOFA stun Manipur Police: Imphal, Dec 23: AMOFA, Moirang stunned Manipur Police by a solitary goal even as NEROCA (Laipham Khunou), SSU (Singjamei) and YWC (Thambalkhong) defeated their respective opponents, while KFC, Kakching and PYC, Phoudel split points after a 2-2 draw in the 2nd Manipur State League football competition matches played on Sunday. 7th Women Winners’ Cup

Manipur Police, ESU win: Imphal, Dec 20: Manipur Police blanked KRYPSA, Naoremthong, 2-0 as ESU, Wangkhei, edged past NYTHC, Okram Chuthek, 2-1 in Thursday’s matches of the 7th Women Winners’ Cup for BM Singh Trophy football tournament at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium here. While O Bembem netted both the MPSC goals including a 35th minute penalty, ESU owed their win to goals from Y Kamla (28th) and Melody Haokip (47th). L Naobi struck NYTHC’s goal in the 29th minute.
