Normal life affected: Imphal, Apr 21: Following the 48 hours road bandh on the Imphal-Tiddim line by the JAC Against the Killing of Sandham Raju by 3 Assam Rifles personnel at Salem Veng at Churachandpur district on January 21 this year, commercial activities were hampered along the said route. The bandh came into effect from 5 am today and was imposed by by residents of Moirang in Bishnupur district to protest against Government's alleged failure to conduct an inquiry into the alleged extra-judicial killing of Sandham Raju. These incensed members of the JAC as well as the local people , said they will now no longer ask the Government to fulfil their demand but take up different forms of stern agitation. Contractors decide to stop work: Lamka, Feb 5: The Khuga Multipurpose Project Contractors and Sub Contractors Association said on Tuesday that it has lost confidence, trust and faith in the state government as it had failed to carry out the commitments made to them. The association said it is constrained to impose a total and indefinite ban on the ongoing works on all components of the Khuga dam from the 5th of this month. The association has decided to impose a complete ban on the ongoing works along the Tiddim road diversion that are being undertaken with NEC funding if the demands they are making are not fulfilled. It said they had agreed with the government on January 12 at the Dam IB for the release of Rs. 1 crore without fail by January 20 and for the creation of special Tiddim road diversion funds. Protestors’ march to Assembly stopped: Imphal, Feb 4: Protestors who were marching toward the Assembly demanding immediate withdrawal of the move being made by the State Government to acquire over 512 acres of land from Malom and its surrounding area in connection with the proposed expansion of Tulihal Airport were stopped by the police leading to a confrontation and traffic jam at Keishampat Junction here on Monday.
