Khuga Dam Mess
Contractors decide to stop work:
Lamka, Feb 5: The Khuga Multipurpose Project Contractors and Sub Contractors Association said on Tuesday that it has lost confidence, trust and faith in the state government as it had failed to carry out the commitments made to them.
The association said it is constrained to impose a total and indefinite ban on the ongoing works on all components of the Khuga dam from the 5th of this month.
The association has decided to impose a complete ban on the ongoing works along the Tiddim road diversion that are being undertaken with NEC funding if the demands they are making are not fulfilled.
It said they had agreed with the government on January 12 at the Dam IB for the release of Rs. 1 crore without fail by January 20 and for the creation of special Tiddim road diversion funds.
It went on to say that on many occasions they had agreed to do this or that but it never materialised and they were jilted time and again.
It further said this time around they would not call off the ban, and would do so only when the terms and conditions of the agreement were practically carried out.
The association has been demanding clearance of all pending bills, submission of detailed project report of head works division by the 4th of this month by concerned officials along with stoppage of the process of canceling some works under the head works division.
