Bird-flu result negative:
A bird-flu awareness campaign was organised by Joint Director, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry on Tuesday at Moirang Lamkhai following reports of death of fowls in the area.
Blood samples from five bulbuls were collected for testing even as samples from other poultries could not be collected as the dead fowls were not available.
Meanwhile, results of the samples from the dead Magpies collected from Maharabi were found negative.
The results have come from the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory, Bhopal.
Unity Team in Dimapur:
The team which has embarked on a tour on the theme of Love, Peace and Unity has reached Dimapur, said a statement by the organising body, Young Horizon, on Tuesday.
The rallyists who were flagged off on January 30 from Kangla to promote peace, love and unity amongst the people was welcomed by the Naga community of Nagaland Naga community of Nagaland with love and encouraging words, said the statement.
The Manipur Cultural Society, Kohima is also extending all its help to the rallyists, said Young Horizon.
The rally is being staged to bring understanding, love and co-operation amongst the Mongoloid people of the North East region, said the statement and added that it is for 45 days.
Thanking all those who have extended their help and co-operation, Young Horizon said that it would welcome all suggestions from the people and urged all to extend their help and co-operation.
UNLF blames SF:
Pointing an accusing finger at the security forces for the bomb blast that led to the death of three women as well as causing injuries to others on Monday at New Samtal area, the proscribed UNLF said that the deaths were due to the hidden agenda launched by the security forces.
The three women were killed while clearing a road.
In a statement, the outfit alleged that the security personnel have been planting bombs at the areas where they have reached, to paint the UNLF in the wrong light.
The outfit said that when the security force approached and occupied New Samtal, such an incident never occurred.
It was only after they left that such an incident has occurred, the outfit alleged and added that this exposes the agenda of the security personnel.
The outfit has also condoled the death of the three women and extended its support to the others injured in the blast.
Lilong dharna decries killing:
The JAC Against the Brutal killing of Md Talibur Rehman on Tuesday staged a Wakat Meepham at Lilong Bazar.
The protest demonstration which began from 8 am to 5 pm was participated by people from all walks of life including students community carrying placards like 'we don't want gun-culture', 'we want peace', 'Give fitting punishment to the killers of innocent people', 'Clarify the killing of Md Talibur Rehman'.
A public meeting held as a part of the agitation has decided not to cooperate with any armed outfits inside Lilong area unless clarification being sought on the killing is furnished.
The meeting also appealed to various social organisations to probe into the matter and give punishment to the culprits.
The JAC has also decided to take up various agitations if the concerned persons or groups do not clarify by February 6.
Rehman, who runs a shop at Lilong Bazar was shot dead on the night of February 2 in front of his own shop by some unidentified miscreants.
PULF clarifies:
The armed outfit PULF on Tuesday clarified that it was not in way connected with the assassination of Md Kalibur Rahman who was shot dead on February 3.
In a statement, publicity secretary of the outfit Belan Khan said that it has started a probe into the killing and urged those responsible to come out with a clarification.
If not clarification is given then it would be taken that it was the handiwork of some gangs, said PULF and added that it would help the JAC in unmasking the killers.
Komrem festival on Feb. 7:
Komrem Chiefs Welfare Organisation and Kom Cultural Dances & Research Centre Imphal would jointly organise the 7th Komrem Lamkut Lam Festival at Khoirentak Khunou village on February 7.
Officials of National Identity Protection Committee would also participate in the event to mark it a successful one, said a release issued by NIPCO assistant publicity W Bikram.
