KLASA, TRUGPU in Loktak trophy final:

Moirang, Feb 5: KLASA and TRUGPU entered the final of the ongoing 1st Loktak trophy 2008 organised by AMOFA Moirang at Moirang Multipurpose ground here on Tuesday.

In the semifinal matches on Tuesday, KLASA laboured to a hard-fought 6-5 win against MBSU, Wahengbam via tie-breakers after normal time ended with both sides scoring two goals each while TRUGPU recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over KRYPSA, Naoremthong.

Naoton opened the TRUGPU score with a goal in the sixth minute followed by Boynao extending the lead in the 28th. Even though KRYPSA's James pulled one back with a 37th minute strike, Naoton regained the lead for the Nambol side in the 42nd minute.
Earlier, in the KLASA versus MBSU clash, Gandhi found the MBSU opener in the 15th minute which was neutralised by Kenedy four minutes later only to see Inaocha restore the MBSU lead in the 44th. Disilung struck in the 67th minute for the Keinou side to take the match into the penalty shoot-out which KLASA eventually won with four successes from the spot compared to three for the rivals

The final match will be played on February 7 at 1 pm.

VSAI veterans advance into final:

Imphal, Feb 5: Two second half goals saw VSAI, Thangmeiband overcome SUVFA, Singjamei by an odd goal in three in the first semifinal of the 2nd Kh Chandrasingh Memorial Invitation Veteran Football Tournament at NESU ground, Porompat on Tuesday.

After Th Bhadra struck for the Singjamei veterans only five minutes into the game, K Dhonel levelled for VSAI in the 52nd minute before the match winner was netted by M Somajit three minutes later.

The second semifinal on Wednesday features FLAM, Yaiskul and TVFA, Takhel.

Borchand Football Fest begins:

Imphal, Feb 5: District Sports Association, Ukhrul rallied to defeat DSA, Kakching by the odd goal in three in a Format-I match of the 3rd Borchand Memorial Under-14 (Boys) Inter District Football Festival at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on Tuesday.

After Kh Amuthoi provided the breakthrough for the Kakching youngsters, Phayam ensured Ukhrul's win with goals in the 18th and 24th minutes.

Ukhrul DSA, however, suffered defeat to Imphal East DFA at 3-1 later in the afternoon with K Phalguni (14th), W Niraj (20th) and L Hemba (30th) sharing the spoils while Rizatmi netted the former's consolation goal 25 minutes into the game.

In the day's other matches of the same format, DSA, Bishnupur trounced DSA, Kakching 4-0 on goals by Chitankumar (6th), L Bhogen (9th) and N Oken (16th, 20th); Imphal West DFA and DSA, churachandpur drew 0-0; IWDFA beat DFA, Thoubal 2-1; DSA, Bishnupur pipped DSA, Ccpur 1-0; while DSA, Kakching downed IEDFA 1-0 .

Under the programme of the Festival being organised by All Manipur Football Association quiz and skill competitions were also held on Tuesday.

Shirui Cup rescheduled:

Imphal, Feb 5: The 27th Shirui Lily Cup football tournament to be held under the aegis of Ukhrul District sports Association will commence from February 19 instead February 5 as was earlier announced.

While entries would be entertained upto February 12, an Association release informed that managers' meeting would be held on February 14. Detailed information may be obtained from either AMFA office or UDSA, Ukhrul.
