Suggests comprehensive action plan: Imphal, Apr 26: After reviewing the law and order situation of the State with officials of the State Government and members of the Combined Headquarters, the central team led by Union Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar suggested formulating a 'comprehensive action plan' to tackle the problem of insurgency and to check the extortion spree. The law and order situation of the State was studied jointly during a meeting held at the conference hall of Old Secretariat southern block today. Besides the central team which included Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and Defence Secretary Vijay Singh who were on a two day visit to the State, the meeting was also attended by GOC 3 Corps, GOC 57 Mountain Division, top officials of Assam Rifles, CRPF, intelligence agencies and the State Police Department. Protestors’ march to Assembly stopped: Imphal, Feb 4: Protestors who were marching toward the Assembly demanding immediate withdrawal of the move being made by the State Government to acquire over 512 acres of land from Malom and its surrounding area in connection with the proposed expansion of Tulihal Airport were stopped by the police leading to a confrontation and traffic jam at Keishampat Junction here on Monday. In case the Government fails to come up with a definite stand on the issue at the earliest possible, the JAC formed in this connection has threatened to step up its stir along with the support of other social organisations.
