Rally Against Militants

Women rally against human rights violation by armed groups: Imphal, Apr 21: Hundreds of women in Imphal took out a protest rally against militant groups for violating human rights of the common citizen. The main objective of the rally was to spread a message for protection of human rights to all sections of society in order to save future generations. The State Government was requested to take stern action against lawbreakers and criminals. The rally was organized jointly by the Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal district women's committees of United NGOs Mission Manipur at the Hapta Kangjeibung Palace compound."It's very high time to join hand-in-hand and coming together from different ethnic groups and fight against these atrocities, harassment and torture. Imphal book fair winds up The Imphal Book Fair jointly organised by the State Central Library and Kolkata-based Raja Ram Mohun Roy Foundation wound up on Monday at Hapta Kangjeibung. The book fair started on December 16. This year’s Best Reader Award constituted by State Central Library went to Dr L Mangal Khuman of Nepra Menjor Mamang, Khwairakpam Leikai, Imphal. The Best Book Production award for the year went to “Khambi Meigi Mashasing,” a book translated into Manipuri by Dr Soibam Ibocha, a senior police officer while the Best Stall decoration was bagged by M/S Mittal Publications, New Delhi. The Best Disciplined Stall prize was bagged buy M/S Priya Books, New Delhi. The three award winners were also presented with Rs 500 each. 16th Imphal Book Fair

Call for govt. support in library movement: Imphal, Dec 15: Giving out a clarion call to the state government for active participation in development of the library movement in Manipur, the 16th edition of the Imphal Book Fair was kicked off on Saturday at Hapta Kangjeibung in Palace Compound here. The annual book fair event which has been attracting an increasing number of book firms from outside the state is being organised jointly by State Central Library, Imphal, and Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata. Along with 14 local book firms, in all, 17 book firms from outside the state are opening their stalls in the fair this year. The 17 book firms from outside the state which are participating in the book fair are Nevidita Books, Guwahati; Ekta Books, New Delhi; Supriya, New Delhi; Mittal Publication, New Delhi; Eastern Book House, Guwahati; DVS, Guwahati; Book Line, Kolkata; Cambridge University Press; Bani Mandir, Guwahati; Nayyar Book Service, New Delhi; Kavita Publishers,...
