Laishram Monika Fetches Weightlifting Olympic Berth : New Delhi, Apr 30: With one silver and two bronze to their kitty in the ongoing Asian weightlifting championship in Kanazawa in Japan, Indian women have booked one berth for Beijing Olympics. Laishram Monika Devi has fetched three medals for India in the women’s 69kg event in the final Olympic qualifying event which concludes on Thursday. Manipur Police beaten: Jalandhar, Dec 11: Manipur lost to Karnataka 1-6 (half time score 1-3) in the 56th All-India Police Hockey Championship at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here on Tuesday. Roshan Madappa struck thrice for Karnataka in the 3rd, 23rd and 27rd minutes, while NP Laxman Rao (43rd, 57th) and G Magesh (56th) scored the remaining goals. Turan scored the lone goal for the Manipur side in the 34th minute. Manipur were unable to convert none of their seven penalty corners. In another match, SSB beat Tripura 5-2 (half time 3-1). Syed Yasir Shamim scored three goals by converting penalty corners in the 11th, 30th and 54th minute. L. Joychandra Singh and Sanjit Singh added one each in the 17th and 59th minutes respectively for SSB.
