Manipur's Sarungbam Athouba Meitei won the first gold of 38th National Games in men's triathlon in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, on January 26. Another Manipuri player Telheiba Soram took the silver medal. Maharashtra’s Parth Sachin Mirage claimed the bronze.
The official opening ceremony of the National Games will be held on January 28, but the triathlon event began two days ahead of it.
Triathlon is an endurance multi-sport race consisting of swimming, cycling and running over various distances.
Athouba completed the race in 1:01:01s. His performance included a swim time of 09:55 minutes, a bike segment of 31:53 minutes, and a run time of 18:09 minutes.

Manipuri girl found dead Imphal/Mumbai, July 15 : A 27-year-old Manipuri girl working as a customer relationship manager in a Mumbai five star hotel was found dead in her hostel at Marol in Andheri shortly after midnight on Friday.
