15-member Delhi team in Imphal: Imphal, Apr 25: A 15-member team from Delhi led by the Union Cabinet Secretary arrived at Imphal on Friday to take stock of the law and order situation as well as discuss developmental projects being taken up in the State. The team led by Cabinet Secretary M Chandrasekhar landed at Tulihal airport on Friday at about 4.25 pm from a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force and they were received by Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh, DGP Y Joykumar and a host of other State officials. On the other hand, the State Government has taken a serious view over the absence of an MCS officer who was not found present at his place of assignment in connection with the arrival of the team from Delhi. Straight on their arrival the team called on Governor Dr SS Sidhu at the Raj Bhawan at 4.30 pm and later met the Chief Minister in his office chamber at 5.30 pm. Assam Regimental Centre lift title: Imphal, Feb 4: Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), Shillong rallied from a goal down to outlast Manipur Police sports Club (MPSC) 5-2 in the final match of the 10th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey Tournament at the Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium on Monday. After conceding a goal only six minutes into the game when MPSC's N Gunamani converted a penalty corner, ARC came back strongly with four goals before the local side pulled back one on Gunamani's second in the 51st minute. However, the commanding lead was restored when Thanga struck his second of the match in the 64th minute, his first coming in the 21st.The other ARc scorers are Y Holendro (12th) and M Arunkumar (19th, 49th). The champions walked away with the top booty of Rs 30,000 and the running trophy handed over by Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh. Suspects held, DGP ridicules RPF claim: Imphal, Dec 18: The state police chief while informing that the police rounded up three bomb blast suspects, categorically denied the allegation against the security forces by the RPF in connection with the blast that claimed the lives of eight passengers and wounded more than 20 others, some critically. Talking to journalists on Tuesday morning before leaving for New Delhi, state DGP Y Joykumar informed that the police had rounded up three of the suspects involved in the planting of the IED on Monday evening. They are in police custody for further investigations, he added. The suspects were picked up from the localities near the spot where the blast took place, he said. The DGP also strongly denounced the RPF statement charging the security forces of triggering the blast deliberately to cause civilian casualties even though the cadres of the outfit planted the IED.
