KCP Dictat on Bishnupur CJM

Lawyers boycott court : Imphal, May 5: Lawyers in Manipur today abstained from duty, bringing the functioning of all courts to a grinding halt, in protest against militants targeting the judiciary. The Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) had asked Bishnupur chief judicial magistrate Tara Devi to surrender before it or face dire consequences. The outfit, in a statement issued on May 2, had accused the CJM of being involved in the killing of one of its members by Assam Rifles troops and asked her to surrender within five days. Tara Devi, however, denied any connivance with the Assam Rifles as alleged by the outfit. The High Court Bar Association today held a meeting to review the situation and discuss the threat.The meeting, presided over by its president S. Jayenta Singh, resolved to endorse a decision taken by All Manipur Bar Association on Saturday not to attend court until the threat was withdrawn. Babupara Bomb Blast

KCP (MC) denies responsibility: Imphal, Apr 26: Contrary to a statement issued by the military affairs secretary Lanheiba Meitei of the proscribed KCP (MC) claiming responsibility for triggering the powerful bomb blast at Babupara as well as planting another explosive device at Mapal Kangjeibung, a statement the issued by Tamnganba, propaganda, communication & technical officer (Military Council) of KCP (MC) denied any connection of the armed group to the twin incidents. While strongly condemning the blast and attempted explosion at public places, Tamnganba called for sanity to all concerned. JAC on Robi Killing demands issuing weapons to citizens: Imphal, Apr 25: Coming out strongly against the killing of Haorambam Robi Meetei (52) of Lilong Chajing Konjeng Leikai by KCP (MTF) on the night of April 23, the JAC formed to decry the killing has also categorically raised the demand for issuing weapons to all the citizens to defend themselves as the lives of innocent people are not safe anymore in the State. Addressing a press conference in this connection on Friday, L Maipak, secretary of the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of H Robi Meetei said that Robi was an innocent person leading a simple life. So the JAC would not be able to accept the charges levelled against him after being killed by KCP (MTF). Stating that the demand of the UG groups would never been fulfilled without the support of the people, Maipak pointed out that if a person is guilty then he/she should be given a chance instead of killing and heaving charges. Babupara Bomb Blast

KCP (MC) claims responsibilty: Imphal, Apr 25: The proscribed KCP (MC) has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast at Babupara on Thursday as well as for the bomb fitted to a rickshaw near the southern gate of Imphal pologround. A statement issued by the military affairs secretary of the outfit Lanheiba Meitei claimed that the bomb was exploded by the demo section of the party's fifth Lanjaba Unit. Stating that the actual target of the bomb at Babupara was security forces, Lanheiba appealed to the people to bear with collateral damages, if there is any in such bomb attacks, till the land is freed from alien rulers. Regarding the bomb planted just outside the pologround, the outfit clarified that the mission was aborted taking into consideration of the heavy casualties likely to be suffered by Manipur police personnel. AMWJU stand on contradictory statements of UGs: Imphal, Dec 27: An emergency general body meeting of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) held at Manipur Press Club on Thursday unanimously decided against publication of any contradictory statement/release of the banned KCP till the armed group resolves its internal differences. A release issued in connection with the said meeting highlighted that members present minutely discussed statements and diktats respectively issued by Lanheiba Meetei and KC Meetei of the KCP factions. The meeting also called upon both the KCP groups to respect an earlier general body meeting resolution wherein the armed groups were urged to amicably settle their differences rather than resort to mud-slinging through the media taking into account interest of the general public.
