PULF Leaders Nabbed from Mysore

Imphal Police surprised the UGs: Imphal, Apr 27: Six PULF cadres including its general secretary, deputy commander-in-chief, finance secretary, publicity secretary and chief of army have been apprehended by a team of Manipur Police led by SP Imphal East Th Radheshyam from a hotel at Mysore at about 9 this morning. Talking to The Sangai Express over phone, SP Th Radheshyam said that following a specific information that PULF leading were meeting at Kolkata, a police team including himself and two commando officers of Imphal East district went to Kolkata on April 24 . But the scheduled of PULF at Kolkata did not take place and in the meantime it was learnt that the PULF leading were meeting at Chennai. Subsequently, the police went down to Chennai. AR refutes allegation from Yairipok people: Imphal, Apr 22: Reacting to the allegations raised by the local people of Yairipok and published in the State dailies following the killing two by Assam Rifles troops on April 18, the PRO of Assam Rifles in a statement today said that the two slain youths belonged to the proscribed PULF (Azad) faction. The PRO said that following inputs about the presence of S/S assistant finance secretary, Md Mustafa and S/S pvt Abdul Aziz alias Tomba of the finance department of PULF (Azad) and their group commander Md Sana in Yairipok Tulihal village, security forces established multiple ambushes/mobile vehicle check post s on all roads leading to Yairipok Tulihal. Two businessmen, van driver abducted near Maram: Imphal, Jan 7: Three persons, including two local businessmen and a van driver have been missing since they were abducted by unknown gunmen on January 5 near Maram along NH-39 in Senapati district. The abducted persons are identified as P Rajendro, 40, of Chingmeirong, one Tomba from Hatta, and driver Elam Priyo, 41, of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak. According to official sources, the three were reportedly abducted by armed miscreants along with the van they were riding in on January 5 evening near Maram while travelling to Dimapur. The white colour Maruta van, registration no. MN01/K-9633, which the three had been riding in was found abandoned at a deserted spot in between Changoubung and Kangpokpi on Sunday afternoon. It was recovered by the Kangpokpi police, and is currently being kept at the Kangpokpi police station. Three suspected UGs shot by AR: Troops of the 18 Assam Rifles have killed at least three suspected militants in an encounter early Saturday morning in the Kuljang area of Chandel district, official sources have said. A statement issued by the PRO, HQ, IGAR (South) said columns of the 18 AR had launched a massive operation in the thick jungles of the Kuljang area last night based on specific intelligence, and early this morning at approximately 5:40 am, troops established contact with the UGs. The area was surrounded by the troops and the UGs fired at, which continued till 6:10 am. In a subsequent search of the area, the bodies of three unidentified UGs were recovered. Two automatic weapons, including a US made carbine and a 9 mm Sten carbine were recovered from the spot. The bodies along with the recovered arms were handed over to Tengnoupal police station today, the statement said. Unidentified gunmen kill two youth: Imphal, Dec 27: Two youths were shot dead by unidentified armed persons atop the hill of Changamdabi Sagol Lou Khabei Leikai about 8 kms North of Yairipok police station on Wednesday night. The slain youths have been identified as Mohd Izu Khan (17) s/o Alimuddin of Yairipok Tulihal Mayai Leikai and Mohd Raju Khan (16) s/o late Abdul Matlib of Yairipok Tulihal Konjil Leikai. According to inputs received from family members of the deceased, Raju Khan left home for Changamdabi at about 11 am yesterday to deliver invitation cards for the marriage of one of his maternal uncles. As the two failed to return till late evening, the family members started searching for them at Changamdabi. Unable to trace the duo, local people joined the families in searching for the missing duo this morning during which their corpses were found atop the hill at about 6 am. Proscribed PLA on offensive: Imphal, Dec 13: Under the continuing Operation Red Sun, the proscribed PLA’s 101 Mobile Bn A Coy launched an intense attack against a combined force of AR’s 18 Bn, 20 Bn and KNA at about 5 am on Thursday. The fighting continued a little later than 11 in the morning. At around 6.30 am on December 2, PLA’s Auxiliary Force attacked BSF camp located at Ithai. At about 8 pm on December 1, PLA’s 252 Mobile Bn attacked a troop of Assam Rifles at Aigeyang village in Chandel district.
