KSO wants UGs to be flushed out:
The KSO Chandel district has urged the security forces to clear landmines and to flush out UG elements from Khengjoi area of Chandel district so that the people of the area can live and work without any fear psychosis.
The student body also appealed to both the security forces and the UG groups to avoid collateral damages and to protect the lives of civilians while in the battlefield.
The KSO, while appealing to all NGOs in the state to refrain from any misleading rumour or propaganda, warned all concerned not to use local people for the benefits of their vested interests.
It alleged that Haopu Haokip, Tonglet Khongsai and Ngamkhojang alias Simthar were forced to appear before media to speak falsehoods in favour of UGs and civil societies in order to gain public support against the operations of security forces.
Yet, the KSO sought attention of both the state and central governments towards the plight of the affected villagers in the back drop of the ongoing CI operations.
It also conveyed wish for a happy and prosperous New Year to all villagers, security forces and public leaders of the area.
Advocacy on girl child trafficking:
A one day networking cum advocacy programme on the theme of 'Combating of trafficking of girl child for sexual exploitation' was held at Hotel Imphal here on Saturday.
Organised under the aegis of Society for Progressive Development (SPD), the inaugural function of the advocacy programme was attended by Deputy Director/Women Development Officer of Social Welfare Surender A Shishak as chief guest and former Adhyaksha of Imphal East Zilla Parishad M Babita as functional president.
The president of All Manipur NGOs Forum Dr K Pauchungbou and president of SPD S Ibohanbi were also present at the occasion as guests of honour.
Many resource persons and representatives of women organisations attended the programme.
KRA celebrates eighth anniversary:
Reaffirming its objective to give "independence and sovereignty" to its people, the Kuki Revolutionary Army on Saturday celebrated its eighth year of existence at its general headquarters somewhere in Sadar Hill area.
The anniversary celebration was marked by paying of condolences to its lost cadres, most importantly the founder member and ‘commander-in-chief’ of the outfit, K Hangsing, who was found murdered in his brother’ Srinivaspuri home in South Delhi in mid November this year.
The home secretary of the Kuki militant outfit L Jacob while speaking at the celebration function said that the KRA has been continuing and will continue its revolutionary struggle for a homeland where Kukis can live protecting its identity and culture.
Talking on the suspension of operation with the state government, he said so far the state government had forwarded the ground rules of the same but the Centre was yet to respond to it.

KRA(U) blamed for Hangsing's murder:
The KRA has blamed the KRA (U) for the murder of its general secretary K Hangshing at Delhi some time back.
Briefing media persons after its eighth raising day celebrations, KRA Information Secretary Th Misao alleged that the KRA(U) was constituted by deserters belonging to both hills and valley.
The organisation has no revolutionary ideology or principle, he said.
Giving an example, Misao said that Rocky, now a member of KRA (U), was a cadre of the KLA. He was made to retire in 2000 on health ground.
Moreover, he was sponsored a training course in John Robert Theological Seminary at Shillong. For his training course, Rocky was helped with Rs 2 lakhs by late Hangshing.
Another KRA (U) member Luwangnamba alias King was a deserter from the UNLF, Misao alleged while disclosing that King is being hunted by the UNLF.
Misao mentioned that KRA (U) abducted one student at Guwahati only to release after receiving a ransom of Rs 15 lakh recently.
Macha Leima demands Indrajit’s release:
Demanding to know why Salam Indrajit Singh, an SO in the Engineering Cell of Education (S), is being held captive till today after he had been called out for talks by some unidentified persons on December 15, Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup (Macha Leima) has appealed to all concerned for releasing him safely immediately.
Macha Leima also announced its decision of supporting the agitation being launched by the JAC in this connection.

On the occasion of its 7th raising day, KRA (U) president David Chongloi has greeted the people of Manipur.
Chongloi, in his message, appealed to the people to forgive the outfit if it had committed anything detrimental to the interest of the mass.
He also conveyed gratitude to KRA (U) army chief Bryan Kuki, currently based in Karbi Anglong, for sheltering its cadres there.
Pledging that KRA (U) will not indulge in anything that goes against the interest of people, David sought support of the people.
He also conveyed best wishes to the people on the eve of the New Year 2008.
The outfit, established on December 29, 2000, has also condoled the death of K Hangshing by observing two minutes' silence, said a release.
