Call for quality education:
Imphal, Jan 3: Call for providing education which can ensure the livelihood of the people reverberated at the 6th foundation day of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) was celebrated today along with participation by students, teachers and representatives of various social organisations at GP Women's College here on Thursday.
The foundation day function was attended by titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba as chief guest, president in-charge of DESAM PC Newton as functional president and social worker Ningthouja Lancha and former Dean of School of Social Science, Manipur University Prof Kh Bimola as guests of honour.
Giving the key note address of the function, assistant secretary general of DESAM Moirangthem Radhamani noted that since its inception six years back, DESAM has been dedicating itself to the cause of bringing about a change for the better in the education system of Manipur.
The task has been a daunting one since there is good governance in the State, but DESAM would not be disheartened and continue to work hard in this direction, Radhamani said.
He said that the problems plaguing the State today can be solved only when all of its people join hands and work together.
He also called upon all the representatives of the student organisations of the various communities in the region for setting up a common platform.
In his address as chief guest of the function, Leishemba Sanajaoba stressed on the need of all the student bodies and social organisations in the State to work together in the common interest of Manipur and its people.
