Sajik villagers reel under threat:
Imphal, Jan 2: The villagers of Khullen Khailet at Sajik Tampak are today living under a cloud of fear and apprehension after an ethnic based underground outfit served demand notice on its chief and barred them from acquiring the job card under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as well as from opening bank accounts.
Moreover members of another community have allegedly asked them to leave their homesteads.
A team of reporters which went to the said village to interact with the villagers on Thursday were informed that an underground outfit has not only debarred them from opening bank accounts but have also banned job cards under the NREGS to be issued to them.
A demand notice was also served on the village chief.
The villagers said that members of another community have threatened them to vacate the village or else fire dire consequences.
The Assam Rifles which have opened its post at Sajik Tampak have been informed about the threats issued on them, said the villagers and added that the security personnel are providing them security at the moment.
The wife of the village chief was also threatened by some unidentified persons in December, said the villagers and added that they kicked down the gate of their house.
