UCM concerned over intrusion, infants death:

Conveying deep concern over the reported incursion into Tungjoy village of Paomata Block in Senapati district by Nagaland and death of more than 20 infants in Tipaimukh sub-division of Churachandpur district, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) has urged upon the State Government to take up corrective measures immediately.

A press release issued by the UCM while hailing the villagers of Tungjoy for safeguarding the territorial boundary of Manipur, decried the failure of the Government of Manipur to take up any long term measure to prevent such illegal incursion.

Observing that a similar situation persists in Dzuko valley, the UCM urged the State Government to solve the dispute with the Nagaland Government diplomatically.

Alleging that the State Government should be held accountable for the death of infants in Tipaimukh sub-division, UCM asked the Health Department to take up necessary preventive measures against any possible outbreak of epidemics or seasonal diseases in the interior areas of the State.

It also asserted that Health Department has failed abjectly in its duty.
