In the meantime, the spokesman of the RPF/PLA`s department of publicity and communication during a press conference held somewhere in greater Imphal area this evening mentioned that the rapist Aheibam Pishak escaped from their custody, during the time the victim girl`s statement was being taken, on the pretext that he wanted to visit the toilet in the evening around 6 pm.

The spokesman said his escape from party custody clearly indicates that he had committed the crime. The RPF/PLA has warned him to surrender within five days and failure would result in severe punishment from the organisation, the spokesman added.

In the meantime, the aunt of the victim, Chingangbam Pishak, 50, wife of Ch Jugol Singh of Andro Kharam Dam Leikai, who was present during the press conference, mentioned that it was the last day of traditional Lai Haraoba of Panam Nighthou at their village on March 27 evening and the entire village adults and elders were enjoying Lairoi religious festival at the Panam Ningthou temple.

The girl at that time was returning home after playing with local friends. Thereafter the accused raped her again in a hut where traditional Andro drums were kept and she was later allowed to go after being given a ten rupee note and a threat of dire consequences if she mentioned the rape to anyone.
