Oust Ibobi Campaign
Prithviraj Chauhan arriving Imphal on Tuesday:
Imphal, Dec 10: Amidst heightened suspense surrounding the month long hectic campaign by the rebel MLAs to replace O Ibobi as Chief Minister of Manipur, AICC North East in-charge Prithiviraj Chauhan will be arriving at Imphal on Tuesday afternoon as the Central observer to take stock of the existing political situation personally.
According to information received from the dissident camp, a series of meetings have been held among the rebel MLAs and necessary political strate-gies chalked out ahead of the arrival of the AICC observer.
On the other side, in view of the AICC observer’s arrival, Congress MLAs and MPCC/DCC leaders and Congress candidates defeated in the last Assembly elections supporting O Ibobi have been mobilising themselves with three camps opened at the officials quarters of IFC Minister N Biren, Social Welfare Minister N Loken and Works Minister K Ranjit.
Chauhan will be accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya and MPCC executive member L Manglem from Delhi.
Incidentally, Chief Minister O Ibobi who led a team of legislators of all political parties to Delhi to meet Central leaders on the Delimitation issue will be arriving at Imphal on Tuesday morning on an Indigo flight.
AICC General Secretary Prithiviraj Chauhan will land at Guwahati at 10.10 am on Tuesday in a Sahara flight before proceeding to Imphal on a Jet Airways flight whose arrival time at Imphal is 1.30 pm. The AICC leader will stay in Imphal for two days during which he will study the existing crisis within the CLP. He will leave the State on December 13.
Specifically deputed by the AICC high command to make a direct observation of the existing impasse within the CLP, Prithiviraj Chauhan will have separate meetings with MPCC leaders and seek their opinions on the question of changing the CLP leadership.
After that he may assess the number of MLAs against and in favour of O Ibobi as Chief Minister of Manipur.
Besides party leaders, the AICC leader will also seek opinions of representatives of the party’s frontal organisations and also look into the activities of the party.
On his arrival at Imphal on Tuesday afternoon, Prithiviraj Chauhan will make an inspection tour of RIMS after which he will discuss developmental issues of the State with Government officials.
On December 12, the AICC leader will call on Governor Dr SS Sidhu.
