MANITRON Corruption Case
GM, another official suspended:
Imphal, Dec 28: Manipur Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (MANITRON) General Manager Thounaojam Santosh Luwang and another official of the corporation have been placed under suspension by the MANITRON authorities in connection with various charges of financial and other irregularities.
Separate orders in this respect were issued by the managing director, MANITRON, dated December 20, 2007.
The other official against to whom suspension orders have been issued is Ng Joykumar Singh, technical assistant MANITRON.
The suspension orders were issued in connection with FIR case no. 8(10) 2007 VPS u/s sec 420/406/120-B IPC and 13(a)(d) (II) PC Act registered against the pair by the state vigilance department, and also in compliance with a recommendation made by the commerce and industries department.
It may be mentioned, Th Santosh Luwang and Ng Joykumar were among four officials of the MANITRON who were abducted and detained by the proscribed UNLF over alleged irregularities in supply of computers and other electronic items to various government schools.
While the four were later released by the proscribed group, the state government initiated its own probe into the scam through the state vigilance department.
