'Kangla Food products safe for health':
All the products of the Kangla Food are safe for health and nature friendly, claimed its proprietor Akhom Birendra.
Speaking to reporters at its factory premises at Nambol Chingmang Phoijing on Sunday, Birendra conveyed that in addition to the Assam State Public Health Laboratory report which said that seven items of the Kangla Food products are safe for health, the Manipur Pollution Control Board, after inspecting its oven, has also declared that the factory is not hazardous to environment.
At present, the Kangla Food is producing 22 different items.
Out of these, the most popular seven items were sent for laboratory test, Birendra said.

Indians freed from Myanmar:
Four Indians who have been imprisoned in Myanmar for a long time were freed on Sunday and handed over to Moreh police station.
They have been brought to Imphal.
The four Indian prisoners who were freed are identified as Lal Bahadur (35) s/o Anil Bahadur of Murshidabad, Uttar Pradesh, Md Hussain (40) s/o Puba Ali of Silchar Assam, Salamtuang (35) s/o Leinkhothang of Khangkhai village, Churachandpur and Mang Aijama s/o Talaidphanga of Champhai village, Mizoram.
All the four were apprehended by Myanmar military under its Passport Act six months ago for illegally entering the country from Moreh without passes, and they were detained in jail for the last six months.
Nurse Assn. threatens stir:
In pursuit of their demand for payment of allowances on par with nurses of Central Government establishments, the Nurses Association of Manipur has urged the state authorities to do the needful before January 31 failing which an indefinite ceasework strike will be launched from February 4.
While expressing strong resentment over the State Government's alleged callousness to the Association's proposal for egalitarian treatment and allowances of nurses similar to those being enjoyed by their Central Govt. peers, the Association informed that the state authorities had already been intimated on the matter since 1999.It also sought support to the cause from Dept. concerned and other medical personnel.
Salary to be released only through MGEL:
The Joint Secretary (Finance) has ordered all the Treasury and Sub-Treasury Officers of the State Government that the release of monthly salary of the employees is linked to Manipur Government Employee's List (MGEL) of respective departments or offices as required under FR and BM Rules 2005 .
The order also said that the withdrawal of salary is subject to MGEL certificate and also to clearance from Finance Budget with reference to DDO-wise employees details in case of Departments or Offices, which have not yet completed the MGEL details.
The matter is under consideration of the Government and it has been decided that drawal of salary for all offices under Medical and Health Services, Education(S) and Revenue is allowed up to the month of January 2008 subject to following conditions: pay and allowances of all Government employees may be cleared on the basis of MGEL details and certificates already issued.

AR officer dies, probe ordered:
The Assam Rifles authorities have ordered an inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death of an officer of the Rifles hailing from the state.
Holding the rank of Captain and posted at the 1 Assam Rifles's Chasad post in Aishi area of Ukhrul district, 33-year-old Bachaspatimayum Lakhikanta Sharma of Khwai Brahmapur Nagamapal reportedly died after his service weapon (9 mm) accidentally went off while a team of the paramilitary force was on patrolling duty close to the post on Saturday night.
Police station concerned has registered a case on the matter, said police sources even as AR authorities maintained that preliminary report indicates the officer might have succumbed to the accidental firing.
However, a family member of the deceased officer refuses to accept the accidental firing theory.
JAC instituted:
A JAC has been instituted against the killing of Takhellambam Romes from Ithai Warukok, who was slain by unidentified gunmen on January 16 at Meitram Awang Leikai.
The JAC has asked the concerned authority to clarify regarding the killing.
The JAC is all set to launch agitation in case the Government fails to take any action regarding their demands, a release warned.
Anniversary of burning Puya:
The 279th anniversary of burning of Puya will be observed on January 30 at Kangla and Hapta Kangjeibung at Imphal under the aegis of Meitei National Front Kagleipak.
Delegates from Jiri, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Chandel, Moreh and Mao Maram would reach Maharaj Bodhchandra College on January 29.
NH-53 bandh:
Demanding revocation of the transfer order of Tamenglong DC T Pamei at least until the close of the current financial year, the Zeliangrong Boudi (AMN) and the Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur has called a 24 hour general strike along NH-53 (Imphal-Jiribam road) from 6 pm of January 27 till 6 pm of January 28.
SSB win in Kanti hockey:
SSB, Gorakhpur, registered its second consecutive win in the super league round of the ongoing 10th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey Tournament with an 8-0thrashing of HU, Lairikyengbam Leikai at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium, Imphal, on Sunday.
In another match of the day, PHAM, Yaiskul collected the bonus point after piping ARC, Shillong in the penalty shoot-out.
The match ended on 1-1 and PHAM converted three of the four penalty shots against only one by their Shillong rivals.
Earlier, in the SSB rout of HU, L Joychandra banged the Lairikyengbam board on three occasions followed by S Romikumar's two hits as Roshan Kumar, I Dewan and Arif Ansari chipped in with one apiece.
