State of Private Educational Schools

Body for private schools mooted:

Imphal, Jan 31: With the main objective of monitoring the functioning of the private schools in the State and looking after their problems, the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association has mooted setting up of a committee very soon.

Irrespective of whether the private schools are recognised by the Government or not, the proposed committee would also look into the teaching methodology, the number of students enrolled in each class and sections opened among other related issues.

This was disclosed by general secretary of All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association N Rameshwar Singh while addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday.

He explained that the committee is to be set up for the sole purpose of improving the standard of education in the State.

He also appealed to all the authorities and founder members of the private schools in the State to become members of the Association and extend their support to the cause.

Association president H Bira, who was also present during the press conference, said that the proposed committee would also work towards introducing a common service rule for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the private schools as well as for ensuring job security.

The committee would also exert pressure on the authorities concerned for providing accidental insurance and regular health check-up facilities for the students of private schools, he further said during the conference.
