Jayenta Kumar Calls on Korean Ambassador

Imphal, Jan 2: Manipur Education Minister, L Jayenta Kumar, who called on Korean ambassador Young Sun Paek in New Delhi, recently discussed for extension of co-operation between Korea and Manipur in the fields of culture, sports and economic, official sources here said today.

Sources said Kumar during his meeting with Paek extended an invitation for sending a cultural troupe of Korea to Manipur in February or March this year.

Manipur director of education (School) M Harekrishna, social activist, N Ratan, secretary (culture) of Korean embassy Spung-Ho Kin and Korean professor J K Kim were also present during the meeting, sources said.

Sources said Koirean ambassador had also agreed to the opening of a Korean studies faculty in Manipur university and assured that Korean teachers would be sent for providing 6-month Korean language training course.

The minister was informed that expenditure for opening Korean studies would be borne by the Korean authorities, sources added.
